N20 and Hypers, a definate answer
Im just curious how much a hyper piston can tolerate. Like N20 wise, how much spray can you throw on some hypers if its tuned well and runs a tad on the rich side?
The reason i ask is, my friend and i just got his 306 assembled tonight and he rebuilt it with some KB hypers. He was curious as to how much spray he could throw on it if we tuned it nicely.
We've picked out a nice spot to hide the bottle, right where the heater/air box used to be located.
Thanks, i just wanted to get a definate answer before we went and sprayed it to pieces.

I've personally put 175hp on a set of hypereutectics (maybe 200hp too a few times). I never had an issue. I have 2 close friends that have ran into the 10s with a 200 shot on their stock 93 shortblocks.
But Keith Black is the piston that gave all hypereutectics a bad name. I've only personally ran 125hp on a KB piston. I just didn't feel confident in pushing it. I've know several people to shatter them 150-175hp.

alright, so a 100shot would be fine? Cause thats what we had in mind anyhow.
Also, would Speed Pro hypers be any better, because we got a set of those sitting on his shelf, brand new in the box. We bought them along time ago for a project we ended up selling, would those hold up to more power? We could easily throw them in there in a few hours.

I wouldn't know the limitations of either piston, but if it were my decision, I'd choose almost anything over the KBs. I can't see how the Speed-Pros could be any worse.

lol, i see.
Alright, so i guess we'll just do a quick piston swap tomorrow night. The motor's still on the stand with the heads off. So its no biggie.
If KB's are that bad, then were just going to swap them out. Thanks Fullauto, i had no idea KB's were that bad, i had heard of them being a little fragile, but i didnt know they were that bad.
Thanks for the replies guys.
