RE: whats the difference between explorer intake and mustang ?
Explorer used a GT40 lower which allows for more air flow. just match it with the right heads or port job so the air doesn't end up hitting the walls of your e7's

ORIGINAL: SN95Stang
so if i popped an explorer intake on my 95gt the air would hit the head walls if there is no port job on the heads?

the "exploder" intake is nearly identicle to the cobra intake, some even say the explorer intake flows better.
the guys above are talking about port matching.
the explorer started using the cobra style intake in 96+
yes the explorer also got gt40 heads in 96 then gt40p in 97.5 i think, becouse of stricter emissions, fuel mialage and power needs
if you get the gt40p heads, you will need to think about drilling holes for the egr and then buying new headers to fit the revised spark plug angle. the advantage of the P heads over the regular gt40's is that the P's flow numbers below .500 lift are better, and the revised spark plug angle means a more efficiant burn, plus they will raise your compression to about 9.5-1 and i belive still be 87 octane safe . Although the original gt40s flow better above .500 but even then if you have a cam that has that much lift, then you should probably just save up for an aftermarket head to take full advantage.
