Default suspension... im lost

well the stock 5.0 is in need of some work, and im hearing suspension will help me alot. however i dont know a single thing about suspension, its all foreign to me. so question is, what should i do for good track performance? good daily driving? and decent(better than stock) twisties performance? im really at a loss when it comes to suspension, i dont know whats what. so if any one can ans these questions, or just give me general info on suspension, what its components are? what what does, etc etc ill really appreciate it, thanks.

do you plan on dragging your car all the time???

Me personaly. I drive my car... and i mean I DRIVE it... Get the Ford Racing M-5400-A Kit, it comes with springs, shocks, struts, and new sway bars. Its the cheapest full suspension kit you can buy, and its great quality.

Well if you plan on putting some regular track time on it, you may want to look into some Lakewood shocks. 50/50 rear and 70/30 front. Also Eibach sells a drag spring kit. Complete with airbag for RR spring to help with launches.

sub frame connectors... eliminates chassis flex. witch i think helps for your "twisties" as well as launching.

then theres the upper and lower control arms for better traction, i dunno what that does for twisties i dont think anything.

springs help both depending on witch type you get. shocks and struts ide recomend getting adjustable unless the 50/50 r 70/30 f are good for handling.

note this is all just what ive read on the forum. i have no experience in anything at all lol...

it is the rate at which the shocks and struts compress and decompress. also know as "bound and rebound"

Don't go with 70/30s for the twisties. Do with adjustables from Strange or QA1. Hell, you could go coilover setup if you wanted. And I also wouldn't go with the drag launch kit for the twisties. Way to much front end rise to be taking quick corners, even with adjustable struts on there. A standard style lowering spring should help a little at the track due to the stiff rear springs. Getting some quality control arms will help in the turns and at the track. Subframes would be a must as well.

Sorry about hijacking your thread but I have a question for 4fit? Where is graham NC. I go to school in Danville, Va and was wondering if you knew some people in the area. I see a fox body every now and then but don't see any congregate.

By the way, If you want drag and twisties, your going to need adjustables. Those are two different suspension setting. Not supposed to make a hard left while drag racing ya know. Personally, I'm looking at D&D's coilover set up. Give them a look. They have decent prices and alot of people stand by them on here. But like was said before, you need to get some subframe connectors. You don't want to ride on three wheels after a while. It will keep everything straight too. Apparantly torque boxes are a problem area but somebody else could help you with that. I don't even know what they are.
