8.8 Libe Capacity?

8.8 Libe Capacity?
I am in the process of rebuilding and installing an 8.8 rear axle assembly in my 85 GT. I will also be using a TA Girdle. What will the lube capacity be with the new cover? Also, I have 4 quarts of Amsoil 75W-90 that I was going use in another vehicle, but now hope to use in my GT. Is this a thick enough lube for my new setup? Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

RE: 8.8 Libe Capacity?
if the TA cover doesn't come with anything that gives a lube capacity, I would just take the the original fill plug and fill until lube is just below it, then you know its full and the level is right. As for 75W90, i think thats what I used in mine and what the manual calls for.

RE: 8.8 Libe Capacity?
An 8.8 takes approx 2 quarts of fluid, be sure to use synthetic. The TA girdle adds approx 1/2 quart capacity, so use 2 1/2 quarts. Don't forget the friction modifier and don't overfill or you will have gear oil spewed all under your car from the vent cap. And 75w90 works fine - lotsa people use that, although Ford does recommend the 140 wt stuff.
