Default axle bearings?

There's a real loud metal to metal clunking sound coming from the rear passenger's side of my 94 gt, especially at low speeds. I've replaced the shocks, removed the quad shocks, put in new bbk springs and isolators, replaced axle bushings, and put in new granatelli adjustable upper and lower control arms, and retorqued all the bolts tight. The sound is NOT the exhaust hitting. My question is, could bad axle bearings make this noise? Or are the granatelli adjustable control arms just pieces of ****?

Have you checked your rear sway bar? Could be loose.

Default RE: axle bearings?

I just went through a passengerside noise on the rear of my P71 crown vic interceptor. I had a leaky axle seal point to the culprit, but it made noise for a while before seal let go. With help from peolple here on the forums and a neighbor. we pulled the axles and sure enough the bearing had ground out a whole bunch of metal off the axle. Bearings and seals, rtv, and axle cost under $200. The car sounds great again. This could be your problem But I am not sure as I am a newbie. I hope this helps you.

Default RE: axle bearings?

my car makes the noise when ever the rear end moves around, so I thought it had to be the suspension, but ive replaced everything! I can lift up on the rear wheel well to shift the weight of the car and it will make the noise. hell, sometimes i will close my drivers door hard and that'll be enough to make the loud bang noise. What could it be??

MY PREVOIUS POST WON'T HELP YOU, MINE WAS NOISEY ON CAR MOVING DOWN THE ROAD.

but, what else is on that side? fuel filler neck loose??gas door loose or rubbing. something loose out of view inside that fender trunk/rear area?

we chased a noise on the pumper at the firehouse and someone finally found the mud flap bracket was loose. duh!!-- nobody even looked at it because the noise was sooo loud and clunky that it just had to be something major about to fall off the truck. double duh!!

have friend lift wheel well or close door while you get down and listen and look, check everywhere, double check EVERYTHING.
