I was wondering, what do the 5.0's run stock? HP and torque wise.

5.0 HO runs 225hp to the flywheel and guessing 250 ft lbs torque.... cant remember the non HO specs

225hp/300 ft/lb torque. Supposvdly 93's only have 215hp/290ft-lb's torque... but I think they were just underrated because of the Cobra.

true, and to make the newer sn95 mustangs look faster on paper. 93 was actually underated at 205hp, same with the 93 cobra 235hp but in reality 93 cobras make that much at the wheels stock !!!

The SN-95 has 215 HP and 285 ft/lbs of torque stock.

Do '93s actually have 205hp? I always thought they were underrated like what 88blueGT said but someone told me that they really do because of the hyper pistons.

i've been dyno'n a 89 5.0 today.. stock was 209.4 to the wheels and 262.3 tq.. got to 213.5 and 269.6 tq with a throttle body and intake tube

209 to the wheels! Damn, i heard it was more like 180 or somthin. I Read somewhere that some magazine dyno'd an auto 5.0 and it was lie 153. It might not have been HO though

If they did, it wouldn't be because of the pistons as they allow you to run closer ring to cylinder wall tolerances due to the lesser thermal expansion of the Hyper piston versus the forged. That would make sure the most power gets transferred during the power stroke as less of the combusions gases would get by the rings.
