88 gt serios upgrade question

Default 88 gt serios upgrade question

i hve an 88 5.0 that i want to stick a 351 windsor in with the stock 5.0 alluminum heads a E303 cam and liter kit a new set of pushrods, trickflow upper and lower intake new set of 30# injecters,new fuel rail and regulater also a new 7 QT oil pan and hv oil pump. now i beleive their is very little differance between the 5.0 & 5.8 except deck height so im sure it will fit but the real question is how do i know what computer to run because of all these changes this is the last year of the speed density and some people have told me just go to mass air but i have a buddy with a 94 Z28 and he still has speed density and his car runs fine and he has camed his car and is running a 150 shot of NOS. now what should i do?

You have to switch to mass air the car will not run right without it you will get engine surges, undrivabilty

eirlier this year he took his car to muncie drag course and ran a 12.9 it is not stock by any means

fine it just seems like maybe i should go to mass air now does that include a wiring harrness swap or just buy the mas air sensor and computer and go

Mass air conversions consist of the following:

Mass air meter
Mass air computer (replaces the speed density computer you have)
Piggyback wiring harness (goes from mass air to computer, sandwiches between computer and main harness)
Instructions

The thing that's hard to get, if you piecing it together yourself, is the wiring harness piggyback. You can do it by splicing wires I think, but I have no idea how.

i think i might try to leave the computer alone and put it all together and see how it runs if it (when) runs pourly then i will try to convert it but i am not all that good with wiring and i am hoping that i will not have to mess with it but if you have any suppestions please do also i realize that i need to do something about the heads i plan on getting them ported soon or just bying new ones either way at least they wont be stock
