Default Tranny PROBLEM

so last night my friend and i were messing around, hes got an 87 hatchback i got a 91 convertable. we decide to make a final run over the bridge cuz every other time someone missed a gear. prior to that we dropped off a girl and were racing to the bridge but for the first time with my short shifter i missed 3rd, and i've had it since christmas. so we go to the bridge, rolling start, probably at 30 mph. i honk 3 times, down shift disengage the clutch and something pops. we looked, engine was fine belts etc. but whenever i would start it up and let out the clutch it sounded like something was just being beaten to hell in the transmission or my exhaust or driveshaft was dragging. nothing was dragging; and were 95% sure it wasnt clutch because whenever i press the clutch the noise goes away and comes back when i go into any gear, clutch engaged. i can get it into 1st and 2nd, but 3rd just gets even worse, same with 4th didnt try 5th. this is a rebuilt world class transmission with the best "beefed up" internals, and i installed it in the middle of the summer. some extra background, i felt like keeping my car until i was 40 and im 17 right now. so i was babying the car not going over 2,500 rpms except for last night. any idea on what it could be or what i should do, Please post.

Thank You,
Brian

ps. it doesnt have 3.73s but it def doesnt have 3.08s cuz the 87 can stay in gear longer but doesnt have the same pull, and im at higher rpms at the same speed same gear as him, plus i cant go below 1500 rpm or the car will start to lung. i think it has 3.27s if those are indeed gears or were a gear option back when the 1st owner purchased it.

When you put it in third and let out on the clutch will the car move? If not you broke third speed and cluster gears. If it will then you have cracked the speed and cluster gears for third. Do not keep driving it only further damage will occur. Remove the transmission and take it apart or send it off to get it fixed. Hanalon Motorsports has a great video to taking and fixing these gear boxes, that's where I learned. You need a press, or access to one and some simple tools that you can pick up at your local Sears to disassemble and repair it.

It goes into third, second, fourth, and first, but it just makes an aweful noise; which to me sounds like nails on a chalkboard not literally. but ill take a look at it if i dont send it off, because ive only had it for maybe 2 months total.

its gotta be the throwout bearing...cause that would explain why its louder in higher gears...cause it will spin faster...They are cheap. Not too hard to install either.mine went out too.
