Default More 'rebuild' questions please!

Alright.. About to order form summit.. I'm still debating.. Is it considered halfassed ot just rering and not to bore? Boring isn't an option, but the cylinders don't seem to bad.. There IS a ridge at the top, but I have no way to remove it (Nowhere ot get a tool around here it seems), but the pistons popped out the top, so does that mean they aren't so bad? And if i'm not turning the crank (Seems to have neough material left on it anways) new bearings on an old crank are always better than the old bearings on the old crank, correct? (I see bronze anyways). Now, am I going to be losing compression from reringing, as opposed to putting the old rings back in, as opposed to boring and buying new pistons (Once again, not an option)..

Assuming all this goes well, what are some HP expectations? It will be 'freshened' as I stated, and the intake and heads (Stock) are ported. Does that even make much of a difference on these motors? It has a b303 cam in it, headers, and underdrive pulleys.. Anything noticeable, or still probably the ol' 225 (Which I don't know what that translates to 18 years later)..

Borings not an option because then I would have to buy new pistons.. I'll be about the same power? So there really is no point to underdrive pulleys, porting and polishing, and a bigger cam?!

Nah man. If your bores don't have a lot of wear, like big ridges at the top of the bores, then new rings would be great. Even if the bores are a bit wider, you'll be file fitting new rings, so you'll have the correct ring gaps, and all will be cool.

you can get a ridge reamer & cut the ridge out, maybe borrow one from advance or auto zone, but the ridge needs to be out. on the boring , you get rings with the new pistons , so it is not too expensive. as for the pullies /cam/porting/polishing, yes it all helps. if you could put aluminum heads/intake/etc. it will also help.good luck.
