Default 88 mustang... is it worth it?

hey.... my name is seth... my brother bought an 88 mustang 5.0 it has a cold air intake and the rear differentials have been lowered for twice the acceleration... he just put a new tranny in it with a stage 2 short shift kit... and it only has 2500 miles on the tranny and 40,000 on the engine... i just bought it from him for 1,400 dollors... the starter is fryed and there is a short somewere in the courtesy lights line...the thing runs perfectly fine when the starter is fine... my question is... is how much am i looking at to fix that short and is it worth is to fix that and the starter and put rims and a paint job on it... i am willing too... i just want to hear from a mustang experoenced person whether or not you think it is worth it... thanks

I would do it too. No idea what it would cost to fix the short, you never know where they are and sometimes can take a long time to find. But it will be worth it when you get it all done. What is wrong with the starter?

sounds like a great deal to me.

If you have time, try and find short yourself- it sounds like you have it narrowed down. try to eliminate suspects or just try and follow the wires ,looking for the short. I have had success before just looking for a slice or worn spot or a screw through the wires.

Yes, its worth it for sure, think about it, what other car are you going to find with thoes kind of numbers, that can rape many other cars? with that price you are looking at a geo metro 3 banger. Its worth it for sure, the 5.0 is an amazing motor.

Worth it? Are you kidding? There are cats on here with cars stripped down to the bare frame, who are building their cars bolt by bolt...and they think it's worth it. It sounds like you have a minor problem on an otherwise awesome car--particularly if that's the only problem the car has. Fix that sh*t! Then put in a five speed tranny.
