Default rev limiter

i have two qestions are there electronic and mechanical rev limiter and can you kill yours if you run your can hard

I know the factory computer has a rev limiter that cuts the fuel out until the RPMs go below 6250. MSD cuts the spark off to random cylinders until the RPMs come back down to whatever pill you put in it. A mechanical rev limiter I thought was on older big trucks to control RPM. No I don't think you can hurt it by running your car hard.
