How the hell do I get the harmonic balancer off?
Im installing underdrive pullies and just need to do the crank pulley now but I cant get it or the harmonic balancer off.
I removed the center bolt and Im using a harmonic balancer puller but I cranked down on it as hard as I can and now the crank turns with the puller.
Is there something Im doing wrong?
Im not even sure that the harmonic balancer needs to come off but the pulley wouldnt come off by itself. Does the harmonic balancer even need to come off?

it should come off fairly easy. what i did wrong on mine was there was a large washer with the puller that could not be used. the big washer was hitting the inside flange of the balancer and it took me a bit to realize that it could not pull it past it.

I got the pulley off. I didnt actually need to remove the HB to do it. I just had to tap on the pulley with a hammer and it fell off.
My puller doesnt have a big washer on it. I got a $9.99 set from Harbor Freight this morning- its nice to have the store 10 minutes away.

The best thing to do is this. Take the big bolt completely out. Then screw it back in maybe 3 or 4 threads. That way when you use the puller, it has something to push against... Then once it is most of the way off, take off the puller. Take the big bolt back out completely, and the balancer should slide the rest of the way off with no problem.
