RE: maaco paint jobs
if you want a good paint job that'll last you long, don't go with maaco. i've heard too many bad things over there. make sure you get it preped for paint and etc. a good paint job that'll last you is into the thousands, a maaco paint job that'll wear off in a year or so will cost around $800, thats just what i've heard. have fun trying to get it painted!

Black is cheapest color.
It's all going to depend on how good a paint job you tell them you want.
If you just say "paint it black" probably around $1,500
If you say " paint it black to new factory finish standards in a 2 step base/clear with wet sand and buff" probably around $2,000-3,000 ( this is the one to get )
Show car quality ....... $5,000 and up.
Macco gets a bad rap, cause people go in there and say give me a cheap paint job, and thats what they get
then get pissed about it.
Macco can give you a good paint job, but you have to tell them thats what you want and be willing to pay for it.
You should also not be embaressed about asking to stop by mid job and look over their prep work for your
own peace of mind.
I would also shop around for local guys.
If you want it to look like a new car, it needs to have all moldings and lights and emblems removed, heavily sanded, primered, 2 step base/clear coat paint with 2-3 coats of clear
minimum and wet sanded and re-buffed afterwards.

RE: maaco paint jobs
maaco's are independantly franchised, so some will be better than others. The one aroudn here does absolutley excellent work. Know plenty of people that have gotten jobs years ago that still look great, and we just recently got a job done there and its flawless. they'll fix what the messed up for free, adn do it in a timely manner.
So Maaco's are kind of hit and miss, if you can find a good one, then I don't see why not? why pay for a show car paint job on a car thats going to be driven.
