Default Suttering/idle problem

The car idles crazy. The car is throwing a code, but I havent had time to check it out yet(when I first start the car it takes a while before it comes on). Also, the car won't go past 5k rpms. I bought a new MAF and that didnt seem to do ANYTHING. I changed the filter and put some injector cleaner in a few minutes ago.

I have been told I should clean my IAC, but I have no idea where this is located. I just bought the car and am not familiar with mustangs.

thanks

-I bought carb cleaner for the IAC, but dont know where it is

What should I use with cutips to clean the wires, ect?

thanks

Year of the car would help. The IAC is located on the side of the throttle body

My 87 GT AOD does the same thing too.

EDIT: Meant to mention, I don't know if it's normal either, heh...

Mine starts high like you said, like 1300-1500 but it doesnt drop to 650 then back to 750...it drops to 850-900 where ive got it set and sits there.

Unless its a really cold morning, then it just dies and i have to keep pedaling it. But with my cam it doesnt like to start on cold mornings.

take the IAC off and clean it

if you stab the gas real quick do the RPM's hold even when your foots off the gas, maybe for a second or two?

at work the other day we had a '92 ranger with a bad idling issue. well by the time were done playing with it i finaly just took the IAC and cleaned it (car is warm at this time), put it back on and FIXED!... or so I thought. we let the car sit over night and fired it up in the morning and the problem was back.

you should take a look at the TPS voltage because if its off even just a little your idle will be all over the place

Alright.. the IAC is on the right side of the TB correct?? Will carb cleaner work w/ cutips??

Today it took a while to start up and it then idles like crap(sounds cam'd). And I can feel a slight sputtering when accelerating. When I lay in it it kinda sputters and around 5k rpm it starts to choke.

Fuel injector cleaner didnt help

Also, I went to Autozone and they cant even check the check engine light because its a 94. Once I turn the car off the check engine light goes off and wont come back on until a little while of driving. I just bought the car and don't know much about mustangs. I had a gsxr750 and 3kgt vr4 before this car.
