Default Rest repair...body men, this is for you!

All of the pics I'm going to show you is *surface* rust. It can be sanded off and painted no problem. Anyway, I have a few questions.

1) What grit sand paper should I use to sand it off?
2) Should I primer or paint directly on the metal?
3) Can I use silicone to reseal the metal seams on the drivers side door?
4) What kind of paint should I use? I'm going to be sure to tape evrything off to avoid getting it on the outside body.

Pics...

Thanks for any advice.

Alright ill answer this ?
1. Make sure you get some air tools and get a sander it will make the job alot eaiser.
2. YOU want to sand, bondo, primer, sand, bondo, paint primer to make sure you get all the low spots of the car.
3. Use ppg or deltron paint when painting.

I don't think bondo is necessary....I mean it's all in the hinges, not like its on the body. I'll just sand, primer and paint. I figure that sanding the reust away and primer/painting over it would suffice to get rid of it.

I'm just trying to get rid of it, not make it look like professional body work. It is just in the hinges, after all.

1. 80 grit
2.clean with some ospho or home depot brand(phosphoric acid) only get it on the metal surface not paint it will soak in , wear gloves and scrub it with steel wool when u get done scrubbing wipe dry with a clean cloth/shop towel and prime with a primer surfacer i use nason for most stuff its a dupont brand get the 2k urthane one
3.dont use silicone is a big no no when it comes to paint paint will not stick to and and it wont stick to paint
4.pretty mu7cha brand prefrence nason(dupont) or omni(ppg) are both great paints for the money

now primer doesnt not seal out moisture! since this is a hidden area i would just buy some single stage in the correct color u need!
