why did u get a catted pipe? theyr like 350$ compared to a 150$ regular O/R pipe?
it was on there when i bought it because in ohio you have to pass e-check if your car is less than 20 years old, but mines and 87 and by the time next e-check coms around i wont have to do it

Just keep your stock mid pipe and change it every two years when you go to emissions. .

The hp gain you will see from removing the cats will not be noticable.

Especially with the BBK aftermarket cats!!!

Maybe 5hp.

I felt NO difference after adding a cat to my 2.3L a few months ago.

In the early 80's cats were a power killer.
Todays technology has improved greatly.
There is NO need to remove the cats.

My opinion,
jason

But you have to remember, these cars were built with 80's technology. Just because it's 2006, doesn't mean the car has 2006 technology.

But you have to remember that the original poster is using a BBK mid-pipe.
If I were a betting man, I would bet quite heavily that the BBK cats flow MUCH better than the stockers.

Do you need all 4 cats, like the stock system used?
NO, 2 of todays new cats will suffice.

Will you gain a huge amount of hp by removing 2 cats?
NO, you will not. You will be lucky to notice the difference.

If you have to replace the stock midpipe/cats, don't use a factory midpipel. I agree that would be retarded.
But you will not gain any significant power by going with a non catted pipe over a catted pipe.

That is the point I am trying to make.
I understand that most will not agree with my way of thinking.
I am just throwing out my ideas, so others have something to consider.
