Overhaulin, need some help.
Lots I need help with. Raced my 88 5.0 HO FI yesterday; floated my valves @ 4500 rpms. The guy I was racing was floating @ 5500 rpms. We both had stock guts in our motors. he just had underpulleys. ( Note to self: get underpulleys). I already bought some bolt on stuff; BBK upper/lower intake manifold, K&N cold air intake, dual flomaster exhaust, MSD cap & rotor, Ford racing roller rockers, crane push rods, B&M short throw shifter, and a T-5 Tranny. But it didn't help a whole lot.
Now From what I understand, a lot of it has to do with the heads. I'm not sure if mine are stock or not, I can't find a ford embelm anywhere, All I've found is a "CP" emblem.Anyone know what this is, or how to find out what it is that I have w/out pulling my intake or heads off? pulling the valve cover is no prob.
I want to throw in a comp K-kit which is a cam, lifters, valve springs, retainers, locks , valve stem seals, and timing chain. The rpm range is rated at 2k-6k rpms. The kit is for the Ford 302 so it shouldn't matter what heads I have should it?
And since I would be this far into the motor I would like to rebuild it with a felpro kit, all gaskets, forged pistons, rings, main,
cam( would sell,) rod bearings, and high volume oil pump.
I can roast my tires at 2000 rpms as is, what would be the best gear ratio for my rear axle for street/strip? Mine feel way too low.

RE: Overhaulin, need some help.
I'm pretty sure they are stock heads if they have CP on them. The e7's i took off my car ( stock heads ) have that on there, and the gt40p's i put on say CP on them too.
For gears if its auto go with 4.10's, if its 5spd go with 3.73's. Thats all i got for ya, i'm sure others will input on this. Hope i could help.
