i was wondering if anyone has done this before. i was thinking of doing it. i am a noob to stangs, i just got a lx coupe (my first car) and im very interested in learning (and racing ) about them. and i thought it would be cool to do a motor swap. and drop a newer style four cam motor in there. if anyone has pix or has done it before will you please post.

ps. im not just talkin out my a$$ i do have the tooling and experience to do this. just want to know if anyone has so far.

First ask yourself why are you doing it? If you want more power the 302 has plenty of potential and you don't need a 4.6L. If your gonna do an engine swap, do it with a 347 stroker or 351W. The GT 4.6L stock is going to be a lot of work to swap into a 5.0 and not with big gains. Just a suggestion.

Its not any much harder than swapping in a fuelie 5.0 into a 4cyl car, but a 4.6 dohc is wider at the heads than a 460 big block - if your doin it for more power than why not go THAT route! Although if just for looks or for racing rules then I say go for it - it would be hella cool.

Yeah man, go for it
Find a 4v Cobra motor out of a wrecked car.
You can have the best of both worlds

Great power and Gas Mileage

hey man, dont listen to anyone that says a 5.0 is better than a 4.6l. they are stuck in the past. check out www.modularfox.com anything you could ever want to know about doing the swap
