I would look at the thermostat 1st, then maybe at water pump and rad. My stock rad with an elecrtic fan does the job great.

RE: junkyard question
Sounds like your radiator may be plugging up, take it to a radiator shop and have it checked out... Normally they will check it out for free in anticipation you'll buy a reamed (rebuilt), $50-$100... Also, if you got a clutch fan, if it's wearing out, it will give you the same symptoms... If you buy from a junk yard, you may be buying an already plugged up one...

RE: junkyard question
I got my 3 row radiator brand new from my work (Parts Plus franchise). Go to your local auto parts store and tell them that you need a 3 row radiator for your 19XX 5.0 mustang. Mine works great and looks great. The best part is that it was only like $164.00 .

RE: junkyard question
but if i bought one at an auto parts store i would want a better one. I only buy interior pieces at junkyards, just kinda curious what is better and what will bolt right up. It would be nice to find a 3 core aluminum rad that will bolt right up then i can go down to autozone and get one (i get 20% off).
