95 cobra conversion on my 93 LX need advice
First off i have a 93 notchback which i just installed AJE racing k-member and contol arms. I also started to install BBK camber/caster plates w/ granateli coilover kit including lakewood struts.
Not installed yet------> i have the complete brake assembly off of a 95 cobra, including the a-arms and ball joints, but dont plan to use them.
Heres the problem when i set the cobra spindles onto the new control arms i realized the base of the new spindles are not as thick as my stock spindles. Resulting in me running out of threads, so i placed washers to compensate. But the bottom of the strut is to close to the castle not on the ball joint. What should i do???? Heres what i was thinking
either use original cobra a-arms and balljoints
see if 95 balljoints will fit into the new a-arms
PLZ HELP

RE: 95 cobra conversion on my 93 LX need advice
I actually tryed the washer gig on top, but the problem after that is the strut is WAY to close to the castle nut on the balljoint. Would be great if i could put a washer under the spindle but its tapered where the spindle rests on the ball joint. Looks like i gotta dish out more dough and get the sn95 ball joints.

Well i just got off the phone w/ AJE Racing and here the solution. Get a peice of sheet metal .020 thickness, cut it so its 1/2 inch tall and just long enough to wrap aroung the ball joint. Now just press the spindle onto the ball joint and tighten the nut. Sounds easy enough.
Also for those of you who have AJE tubular a-arms for 87-93, they use chrysler screw in ball joints.
Moog #778 or u can use SA397. You can pick those up at your local auto parts store.
If you need them for 94+ heres the number to AJE 800-877-7233.
Thanks for everyones help and I hope this helps you all in the future!!
