is it worth it???? SC 5.0?
i have had this i dea in my head for a few days now, i hope you can enlighten me.
i have a 1988 GT
i was wondering if i could get a used super charger from a junk yard off of a SHO or thunderbird sc. the main thing that has me thinking it wont work is that the sc on those cars are bolted to a V6. would the SC just bolt on as an easy upgrade?
would it generate much power on a V8, since it was built for a V6?
who much would i be looking to spend in a junk yard for the SC?
how much HP would it produce?
thanks in advance
lucky

About what would one go for? You could port and polish it and add smaller pulley's and itd probably get the job done. Even if it was only like 8 psi. I'm very interested in this too.

The sc will produce enough psi for your mustang to make it faster. Roots style superchargers are good at generating power for their size & are rather quiet. Centrifugals are good at producing power for thier size too, but are loud. I don't think you have to worry about finding the screw type as they are not on many cars. They aren't good at producing power for their size. The problems you would be faced with is where to bolt it up to & how to run the piping. & you have to pay for fuel management parts. If you don't you will burn your engine up.

I don't agree with your assessment of the screw type superchargers, just take a look at the one on a Ford Lightnin' truck and you'll see that they are very compact and can really make plenty of boost. I do agree that you need to get the fuel curve just right or you run the risk of really doing some big damage when the boost kicks in.
