I got a set of 3.90's about two months ago but have not installed them yet. I was on the phone making an appointment when I mentioned that my FRPP installation kit came with axle seals and axle bearings. They immediatly jumped the price from $300 to $500-$550. My question is, whoever had gears installed the the $100 dollars FRPP kit that came with the axle seals and bearings how much did you get charged? It was recommended by every shop that I talked to to install them but Im thinking about not doing it because of the price... anyone have any comments, suggestions, etc.? Thanks.

thats a rediculas price IMO ive had two sets of gears installed with the kits and seals...one was 250 and the other time was 300. (had to do it again cause the first guy fu**ed up!)
but an additional 200 bucks for seals and bearings? thats dumb its MAYBE an additional 20 minutes of work for seals and bearings.

Thanks for the help. The guy said it would take almost half a day to press the seals, etc. Thanks for the info. I guess I will either call them back and tell them that or look for someone else.

Go somewhere else! I can do the job in a half a day and put all new bearings in. The axle bearings and seals are not that hard.

yea i just did axle bearing and seal yesterday on my stang... not hard at all, if you need a step by step just let me know, ill be happy to help ya out. now as for the gears.... cant help ya there.
