GT40xs are decent, but you can get a better head for the price. If I remember correctly, they sell for $689 a pop out of jegs, which adds to $1380. For $1380 you can get a set of AFR165s or Twisted Wedges for that, and they're much better. I'm pretty sure your power band will stay the same if you don't change your cam.

You can get TW's for 1050 and they are world's better than the X heads. AFR's will run you 1275 shipped from c-f-m.com. You will need stud mount rockers. Scorpions are excellent quality for the price and I would look at the TFS stage 1 cam or a custom grind. I have the E and it's okay, but the letter cams are older technology. Do a lot of Google research before you buy...don't take our words for it....see for yourself so you know you're making the right decision.

Heads don't determine what your range will be, it's the rest of your setup. Every part you bolt on affects another. Intake is the biggest determining factor for your range

^^I agree. Say you go w/ the TFS track heat...You'll want a cam that operates in the same range (1500-6500rpm) and, if you plan to rev past 5500, you'll want to make sure the valve springs can handle it. AFR's have a problem w/ valve float above 5500, so you'll want to upgrade the springs if you decide on those....
