It's pressed in and held on by the w/p impeller and a bearing. The shaft and the pump are 1 unit.
If they are one unit shouldn't I have to replace the pump?

Once I get my new pump will I have to have the new shaft pressed in?

Alright, thanks pro!

So a napa water pump should come with a shaft pre-installed and I'll need to install the clutch, fan, and pulley, right?

Ok, sweet. Sounds like a couple hour job. Thanks for the help!

No more clutch dumps for me...for as long as I can resist anyway.

I think that was just a freak thing. Dumpin' the clutch should not have caused that. I would however check your motor mounts. If the one on the drivers side is broken, it could have let the motor come up and the fan hit the shroud and caused what happened.

Well...as you can see the driver side fan shroud mount is busted from the break...maybe the motor mount is to blame.

I'd think the shroud would go if this happen. I ran into a similar problem like this once. THe fan got a little chewed up but the shroud didn't survive.

Well...as you can see the drivers side of the radiator shroud was ripped away from its mount.
