Default 130 amp alternator

I just bought a 130 amp alternator on ebay for my car. The main reason I bought it was so I could keep the underdrive pulley on the alternator and not have a charging issue at idle.

Do I really need to upgrade all the wiring like the How-To's Ive seen? I dont have a big stereo or any other power robbing accessories, just the underdrive pullies and a cd player with speakers (no subs).

the wiring has nothing to do with your accessories or how many amps ur pulling, in fact the wiring is just to allow that particular alternator to install on your car.

You didnt need to upgrade to begin with

Just the switching of the plug is whats needed to install it. I meant the bigger wire with a fuse to the starter relay.

I bought a higher output alternator because the charging drops at idle and the lights dim.

From what I've heard the 130 Amp alternator will pretty much melt the stock cables. I guess since they were only made for the puny 75 amp alternator in the first place pumpiing 130 amps through them does some damage lol. Upgrading the wiring is a good idea anyway b/c you know its fresh and you know there is the least amount of resistance possible, giving you the full 130 amps you paid for.

By the way I want to do this upgrade myself. How much did it cost you, what was the item number? Thanks.

It doesnt seem to be too big of a deal to upgrade the wiring but I just wanted to know if it was necessary. Ill wire it up right then.

It cost me $61.95 shipped.
Ebay item #280035171258
The same seller has one starting at 99 cents.

i bought 3 1/2' of 4 gauge amp cable. a couple gold terminal connectors the alt at autozone (lifetime warranty) then i just youse a female connector to connect the harness to it instead pf the stator wire, then then trimmed the alt output bolt housing (if thats what its called)spliced in the female connector, and then boltd up the amp cable to the alt and the starter solenoid.

mine was a lil more expensive just for the fact i had to buy a dremel to trim the bracket.

Where exactly does the 4 gauge wire connect to the alternator? After looking at some pics its hard to tell where the new wire starts.
