Idle question
I have a 5.0 with a b-303 cam and 24 lb injectors and a few other odds and ends in my 89 gt convertible and i had a mechanic look at it (mistake) just to make sure everything was allright and i had said i wanted it to start easier so they cleaned my fuel system and installed a new cold start module also my idle went from about 600rpm (before mechanic)to about 1100rpm(after mechanic) and whenever i let off of the throttle it idles at about 1500rpm for a second or 2 then drops to 1100rpm instead of just dropping down to the usual idle. i was thinking it is the idle air pump sticking or something? also if it is the idle air pump and i replace/clean/rebuild it will that drop my idle back down to that nice lopey 600rpm? i had a problem before with the idle air pump(before mechanic) sticking open and when i started the car it went to full rpm and i hit the idle air pump with a rubber mallet and i guess it dislodged whatever was loose and dropped it back down. any help would be appreciated and also if anyone knows how hard it is to rebuild the clutch pack in a traction loc rear end i.e. do gears need to be removed or anything thanks, Chuck

RE: Idle question
never heard of a cold start module, course, its not bitter cold in winter time here either in NC. I would look at the idle adjustment screw. try adjusting it and see if your idle drops down. You can take off your idle air control and clean it with brake cleaner and q tips. I never rebuilt my traction lok clutches. I need to though. Better save that for the experienced rear end guys.
