AOD-E Into 93 GT
What EXACTALLY is involved? I have now seen it done on a few cars. The reason I am asking is because a friend of mine has had his brand new Comp AOD-E from Performance Automatic sitting in his garage for like 8 months now and its BRAND NEW. It was supposed to be for his 95 GT. Please, if anyone know whats involved into making an AOD-E tranny work with an AOD car please let me know. If its too much work I will defiently say screw it but if its not that hard I can get the trans for dirt cheap. Thanks.

RE: AOD-E Into 93 GT
If you can get a tranny for dirt cheap you have conquered 90% of the job. Otherwise you would be spending about $2000.00 to do the swap.
Personnally I would say get a 4R70W instead of the AODE
EXACTLY: The AODE is about 7/8 of an inch longer than an AOD, so plan on a shorter driveshaft.
I did the swap using the TCS from www.becontrols.com
You need the transmission wire harness from a 94-97
You would be pulling your seats and carpet out to install the controller under the passenger seat and route the wiring.
You will pull the PCM from the the R/H kick panel area (thats where it is on 94-95) and tap into the main power, ground, PIP and TPS
You will cut a hole in the floor and route another bunch of wires down to splice into the tranny wire harness.
Another group of wires will be routed to an area of your choosing for the OD off indicator lamp and the table select switch.
I replaced the AODE with a 4R70W in my 94. So I did not have to deal with a shorter driveshaft.
I'm getting old an lazy and I considered the work and patience involed in splicing gobs of wires a major headache. My car was on stands for six weeks while I dragged my feet.
But, when the job is done, it's all grins.
AODs suck-never again.
