Default 5.0 temps

I'm fairly new to the mustang, but I have a 95 GT that I have put AFR 165 heads on, trick flow intake, full exhaust and the basic other bolt on things. What worries me is the idle temps. At an idle for a short time the temps will reach 210-225. I have even installed a manual gauge to be sure. Is this normal, should I just monitor the temps and keep driving or is it dangerous. Any advice is apprecitated.

Something isnt right there, you should be getting to 225...thats bad...your going to warp those aluminum heads doing that.

You may have put the head gaskets on backwards or your Tstat is stuck closed.

Or it sounds like your radiator isnt up to snuff, maybe an electric fan will fix your problem...find one out of a SN95, those work great.

Theres something wrong then, it should be kickin in around 180-195. 220 is way to high for it to be kickin in at.

From 5.0 mustang: "We all know that factory gauges aren’t the most accurate, but they can still tell us a lot about how the car is running. Most pre-’94 Mustangs like to run (water temperature) between 190 and 200 degrees F, which translates into the water temp needle being at or around the M or A in NORMAL. SN-95s like to run a little hotter."

replace t stat with a 180* fail safe, flush/fill coolant system with fresh 50/50 mix and verify concentration with guage, burp system real good, and then check temp. Also sounds like the fan clutch isn't working properly, may want to get a replacement or upgrade to electric fan on a manual switch or linked to ignition switch so when the motors on the fans on...jmo good luck

that is with an electric fan, but like I said, it doesn't kick on until 220.
