Yes, 255/60/15s will fit fine. I'm assuming that you're going with the MTs. Keep in mind that those tires are 27.10 inches in height, which will effectively raise (lower numerically) your gear ratio. 275/60s are 28 inches tall, which would make this even worse. If you don't have the high reving, high horsepower, low gear car to take advantage of a taller tire, then I would recommend going with a 26" tire like the 275/50/15.

Can a 275/50/15 fit on a stock 86 GT wheel? I have heard yes and I have heard no. I have also heard yes but not recommended. If not what is the biggest for the stockers?

this tire **** is a headache... what DR size should i go w. then? i was thinking the 255/60/15s, but if your saying that not good... what should i go w. im either running MTs or BFGs maybe 225/50/16?

and also, stock the tire height is 60(talking about my street tires i need to buy too)... but i just read another thread about ppl using 40-45... is that a better idea? or should i stick w. xxx/60/15?

thanks for the quick help...

i am not familiar with the size of the stock wheels, however you can easily fit a 275/50/15 on a 15x8 wheel

I believe they are a 15x7. Nearly positive.

I run a 275/50/15 BFG DR ona 15x8 Draglite. Seems like the 86 wheels are 7" wide though. That would be pushing it for a tire with a section width over 11". They do make a 235/60/15 DR that is advertised as 26" tall. I let math nerd Adder work the exact measurement out. I would guess it's right at 26" if not a tick smaller.

yes, 235.60.15 is the proper diameter for that tire.... commonly refered to as a 26x8x15
