Thats actually the exact color I want to paint my 88. Either that or the midnight blue that came on the VW's. Not sure of the name though

But anyway, the car looks GREAT! Good luck with your new motor!

Yeah, that is pretty much what color blue I would like to run on mine. I was thinking of adding metallic silver flames, or metallic silver center stripes along with the blue. "Electric" would be a great to describe it.

Hope you dont mind me asking, but how much did you pay for all that? Is the engine powdercoated or high temp paint? Also, did you put the molding/trim (the pieces that run all around the car) back on or did the shop? I want to prep my car for paint, and mine are peeling off, so obviously I would want to sand/primer the car, then put them back on to be painted over.

Cool stuff. I'm envious.

I believe most people take the moldings off, paint the car and than paint the moldings seperate and than put them back on. Thats what I would do atleast; it seems like the right way to do it.

83FoxBody...I took all of the trim pieces off and am currently painting them (satin black), The moldings I removed for paint as well, But will be looking for new door pieces they are pretty warped. The engine compartment is not powder coated, I painted it with POR-15...Its good stuff, You need to do three steps to make it last long..Etching primer, base coat then top coat. I used it on the entire engine compartment and under carriage. The total cost of the paint job and body work is about $1800, including all supplies and materials..I did all of the body work myself and had a professional painter shoot the paint for $150. Hope that helps you.

We just painted my car, I did all the body work myself and the paint came out great. When we shot the clear it came out gay on the rear bumper and the body has some haze spots. Im taking it the local paint shop to see if the can buff the haze out. But we will definatly have to do the rear bumper again. But for doing it at home it came out pretty sweet. Except the clear.

It's easy to wet sand the bumper with 1500 grit wet paper and polish it after...You can do it yourself, just keep the buffer moving to avoid burning the paint.
