Changing head gaskets shouldnt be that hard right? I mean it doesnt require that much work to change them and bolt the heads back on properly, right?

Theres a bit of work. Intake, fuels rails, headers, plug wires, rocker arms. Torque specs obviously must be carefully observed. Not particulary hard, but theres a little more than jst taking the heads off replacing the gasket and plopping it back on. A lot of things tend to get in the way.

Before fuel injection changing a head gasket was no where near as difficult as it is today what with all the additional vacuum lines and air pollution control equipment in the way. you also need the special fuel line connection breaking tool to release and remove the fuel lines and a home made diagram showing where all the wires and vacuum hoses attach so you can get them all back in the correct places after you get the head and intake manifold back on. I would definitely not recommend this job for the first time do it yourselfer unless you have an experienced friend looking over your shoulder to assist you the first time you try this job.
