Default NEED HELP Please!! PCV Crankcase pressure/Bogging

okay, so the verdict is still out on the breather on the v/c,,, BUT!!!

I installed the V/C breather and capped the vacuum line on the TB, took the car out for a spin and notice it is still bogging,, its bogging esp at WOT and in 3rd or 4th it does it from about 2500-4000rpm,, lots of bogging,,,it bogs then stops then bogs again, it if dont do WOT it will bog but just a little bit when i get to those rpms slowly,, i have no detination, new wires, new cap, new rotor, i havent checked the plug gap again yet,, will try that tonight and see if that clears it up,, i believe it should be somewhere round 35 or so for my race 347???,, also wondering if i shouldnt just cap off or put a breather on the PCV on the back of the intake<---- read below

i also have another problem that it did not do before,, when i start it it runs up to about 1800-2000rpm for 4-5secs or so then drops to 850-900rpm idle, where i have it set, if i am sitting there i can rev it up to 2000 or 3000 and it goes back to 1800-2000 and sits for couple secs then down to idle again,, i think i will pull my IAC and clean it and see if that is it,, anyone have any suggestions,,, and remember this is without a tune too, thanks

oh yeah heres what im working with, 347 race built for boost, scat crank, scat 4340 h beams, j/e pistons, 9.2:1 compression, RHS 200 heads, Comp XE284HR cam, Comp Cams everything, 1.6 rockers, Edelbrock RPM II intake, accufab 75mm blank TB, Pro-M 80mm MAF calibrated to 42# injs, 42# FRPP injs, crane Hi-6 ign,

The hanging idle and bogging may be related or may not, it is tough to say.
Start out by checking for diagnostic trouble codes.

The tps may be getting a little hoky?

Refresh my memory...
What is your complete setup on the pcv system?
Are you having issues with the system?

Running an open element breather with a pcv will create a vac leak condition. I recommend installing a second pcv in the location of the breather, restoring the TB/VC hose, and making sure the stock pcv is in good working order.
With that setup you should have no issues.

Back to the bogging...
Did the problem start when some changes were made?
Or just gradually over time?

well for 1 thng the car is idle hunting a tweecer rt or PMS will clear that up ..also I think you might have a calibration problem with the maf as well as a vacuum leak...... I don't running a pvc valve on mine and use a screw in breather cap...I run 15 psi

Are you sure you don't have a vacuum leak somewhere? What is your vac at at idle and at WOT? Also, how is your fuel pressure? I don't know your exact setup or situation, but if you're having hesitations or if it's bogging down on you, I would check into vac leaks first, followed by fuel pressure problems.

That doesn't help much with the idle issue, but it's a start.

ok,, first off was having hella blow by from new 347, put on breather on v/c filler neck,, took away oil leak/crankcase pressure from oil pan/rear main seal, forgot to plug off vacuum line from filler neck to tb, boggin started when i first put the breather on,, it didnt do it when i had the regular oil cap on, have talked to a couple other ppl about this and a frined who runs boost, said he had to put a breather on his v/c filler neck and replace his PCV with one too,,, i got another breather for the PCV im going to try that tonight,,, i know bout that moroso evac system, if this doesnt cure it im going that route,, put em into the headers,,

as for the TPS it is new and set at .97 last i checked, IAC is pretty much good to go,

i am just in the break in period with the car, going to get to the tuners and dyno in bout another 400 miles,

MAF is calibrated right to 42# from Pro-M and have 42# injs to match,

any other suggestions

Run the PCV system just like it would be from the factory, but in the valve cover to TB hose, run an oil catch can. No oil in the intake system, and no vacume leak

not worried about the oil in the intake, that is not the question of this post, it is that i have serious blowby with my race built motor, just wondering if anyone has deleted their PCV and had any problems with it, or if they have left it and got away with two or three PCV valves,

Many cases, people delete the VC to TB tube due to oil in the intake, especially if you have serious blowby like you claim. If you have blowby that badly, you NEED a PVC system. What many of the turbo ford guys do (2.3L guys), they run a check valve in line with the PCV, to help give it a more positive seal, especially under boosted applications.

My PCV system is just like how i described it in my previous post. The system is stock, other than the oil catch can, and between the oil catch can, and intake tube, i run a check valve.

yeah the oil catch can is a great idea, saw it on a post bout 3 mths ago while doing research on this topic, going to try this breather approach and see what happens, then go back to PCV
