Default horsepower differences with a 306ci

I was just curious what kind of horsepower gain will I achieve by punching a stock 302 to a 306?? no other modifications other than the bigger bore.

Most people do not really bore their motors to a 306 for more power, thats just what they do when people get their motors rebuilt, etc. You will not feel a difference.

That's what I figured... and that's why it was bored .30 over. I was just hoping it'd gain a bit of performance. I'm gonna put a more aggresive cam in it along with some long tube headers. Hopefully I'll gain a little horsepower over the stock 215hp.

you will definetly gain over the stock 215 even without the cam and headers. A freshly rebuilt motor will always run stronger until it starts to get all the gunk in it again. You put the cam on and it will love it. The week point of the stock motors is the heads and headers.

typically a 306 is the result of a rebuild that required the cylinder walls to be cleaned up a bit, as for performance the gains aren't mentionable....

the good news is you can say you actually have a 5.0 with 306ci rather than a 4.9 with that stock 302ci

well if your producing alot of blow-by,at the result of worn rings..then a .030 bore with new rings would stabilize better cylinder compression...but there won't be that "gain" you might be looking for.
