Mileage.
Just wondering if 126k miles is too much to start modding a 5.0. I don want the engine to blow up with all my expensive parts on it. What is likely to fail first at this mileage, if the car is kept in good running condition? Can I still run it hard every now and then?
P.S it's a 91 LX.

RE: Mileage.
In my opinion, it is never too late to start modifying a car. Seeing that you have a 5.0, you also have a limited slip differential. With that many miles on it it is probably worn out, so that should get replaced (not important unless you hate one tire fires like I do...)You should have no problem modifying the car, it would probably thank you for a new set of gaskets, probably shocks, ball joints, a radiator flush and all of the other standard maintenance. What kind of mods are you looking at?

RE: Mileage.
126k.... what kind of **** do you want to do? i wouldnt go to far with it, maybe a little bit bigger cam, and port the heads and get a new intake and get some long tube headers, you should be alright, as long as your rings arent worn, thats the main worry with a motor with that many miles, ones your rings are gone, you need a rebuild... you should have a leak down test also.... what kind of mods are you looking for?

RE: Mileage.
Headers, BBK CAI, Full exhaust, 70 mm TB, fuel pressure regulator, spark plugs, MSD 6AL, Billet distributor, 3.55 gears, sway bars. I'm not going into the heads or manifold. Do you think it will last if pampered?

Mine has around 130-140k at the moment.
And I'm still modding the hell out of it.
You should be fine here's what I've done to my car so far:

[ul][*] 4.10 Gears[*] Ford B303 Cam:
. Duration': 224°/224° @ .050'
. Lift: .480'/.480' [*] Steeda Aluminum Underdrive Pulleys[*] Edelbrock Performer Intake(1500-6500)[*] 24# Injectors[*] N.O.S. 75 Dry Shot[*] Pro-M Bullet 75mm MAF for 24# Injectors[*] Accufab 70mm TB[*] Edelbrock 70mm EGR Spacer[*] Chrome Breather Valve[*] BBK Fenderwell CAI[*] BBK 1 3/4" Ceramic Coated Long Tube Headers[*] BBK 2.5" Off Road Shorty X Pipe[*] Flowmaster 40 Series Mufflers[*] Eibach Pro-kit Springs - Lowered 1.5"[*] Steeda Tri-Ax Short Throw Shifter[*] MSD Pro-Billet Distributor[*] AC Delete Kit[*] Smog Removed[*] Powerslot Rotors w/ Hawk Performance Pads[*] MSD 6AL Ignition w/ Rev Limiter[*] MSD Blaster 3 Coil[*] MSD 8.5mm Wires[*] Battery Relocated in Back
