Default head gasket or what?

i found the winter car i finally want and it reads the following
The engine is a fuel injected 5.0L HO ('86 block w/ flat top pistons and E7 heads) along with a built AOD automatic. It is not emissions legal, no EGR and no catalytic converter. The engine runs great with the exception of a nasty air pocket in the cooling system I can't seem to get rid of. Currently running w/o a thermostat to prevent the air pocket from expanding and puking coolant. DOES NOT OVERHEAT! I've already ruled out an internal engine issue by running compression, combustion and pressure tests- all checks out good.

i just called him up and he thikns it might be the head gasket i asked him if it smoked but how can i find out what the problem is? i have been looking for a ranger with a 5.0 forever

If you ran a pressure test and it was good it wont be a head gasket!
