You dont have to notch your pistons with all heads... only some. Like AFR 185's, etc. and other larger heads.
It's an 86, has flat-tops

Ah hah... thanks liquid!

Gonna have to ask someone else on that one, I've never done it, and I would never do it myself, I'd take it to my local engine re-builder for that part, so much you can screw up

Well your car has a Speed Density sensor, which limits the mods you can do, in order to get that, you'd have to switch over to MAF and an A9L computer (assuming your car's a 5-speed that is)

hmmm I think the 93's had a different computer, Starts with a "C" I think but check it out, if it says A9L... yoink it. Also, you have to change a little bit of wiring to convert it as well, as well as get a MAF sensor. It's a fairly involved conversion

You dont HAVE to switch but it would make things alot easier on yourself if you did.

Also, i h8chevy, your compression ration really depends. It depends on what kind of fuel you want to run and it depends on what you want to do with your car. If you want to go NA you can go something in the 11's and try to still keep it on pump gas and if you want to go with a SC/turbo you can try to get it into the 8's.
