This happened to me 2 times already. I start up the car and i would hear a loud grinding sound. I turn the car off, take the key out and the motor will continue to spin and gradually it comes to a stop. Next thing I know the battery is dead. My question is what is this problem and what is that grinding sound. Best way I can describe the grinding sound is a louder startup then normal. Any help appreciated.

Probably a bad starter or it's going out. Take it off and have it bench tested.

I would say the celenoid! Have you changed either lately? You could have hooked the new one up wrong. Guy on another thread just posted the same problem your haveing.
