Need Help weird idle.... mayb cuz of timing
ok here is the problem i have this weird idle it started at 800rpms then drops to bout 600 then bak to 800... bak and forth for a few seconds.. then it chills out for a while.. then it iwll do it again later... i bumped the timing up to 14 from 10... i am running 93 octane in it tho.. and its not pinging... i was thing about using some seaform and some lucas injector cleaner on it... its only got 42k on it tho so i dunno how much it will clean.. should relaly be that dirty... any other possiblities??

check what the tps is saying. also could be your mass air. if you have the stock mass air look at it and see if the little white(should be) contacts are black or anything. the tps should say .98 or something close.

have you checked codes? i had same problem then discovered that tsb on the 'salt and pepper shaker" connections and when i cleaned them up it fixed the prob. i think the tps is supposed to be around .8

ok i really dunno what u guys said... but the check engine light isnt on... so if that says nething then yea... its really a minor thing... some times when im at a stop idling it will do that then die.. but it starts up fine

pro were the IAC motor... and it is ez to clean.. im assuming with the tb just talkin off the air intake tube and have a look in.... u think seafoam will help... or lucas injector cleaner... i bought some today.. thinking it needed to be done neways and thot hey if i get lucky and it fixes it then all the better

It's pretty much cut and dry. Unplug it, then remove the two bolts holding it to the TB. Take if off and then remove the two screws to seperate the unit. I sprayed carb cleaner in mind and swabbed it with some q-tips. Hosed it out and reinstalled it. I was having some of the same issues as you on a motor with 204,000 miles, but it idles good now. Definately check the TB though. Where mine bolted up, there was some thick black stuff in it. It's definately the easiest thing to check first.
The IAC is the long tube shaped thing similar to a pill bottle that is mounted at an angle right where the intake pipe connects on the TB.
