Default 347 Help

I've already posted on this once and got some good response. I have tweeked my set up a little and wanted to get some more opinions. I know how important the right matching parts is for hp numbers and don't have a huge amount of experience with performance parts. SO here is what I have planned.

*Ford Sportsman Block
*Eagle Cast Crank
*Eagle Cast rods
*Probe forged 4 inch bore pistons
*Trick Flow Stage 2 Cam
*Ford Racing Lifters
*Trick FLow Track Heat Heads
*Crane 1.6 Rockers
*Parker Funnelweb Intake
*650 Speed Demon
*Dynomax Black Jack Headers
*Milodon pan and windage tray
*Melling high volume pump
*Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel

Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated, ya'll know much more than me. Thanks in advance.

Since you are more or less building a completely new motor, you might as well relace the harmonic balancer as well. I havent heard anything bad about crane rockers, however i have heard alot of good things about Harland Sharpe rockers. Other than that, everything looks pretty good.

but why do you want a sportsman block? you can get a seasoned block and have it machined and magnafluxed for less money... just something to think about

ya i have a new balancer on order. Went with a sportsman prematurely I think. Bought it 2 weeks ago and kind of regret it. You're right and I should have just found a good used block. O well $1,000 mistake [:@]

Any power estimates?

sounds like a decent setup to me. only thing i see is if its gonna be a 347 the pistons better be 4.030 inches, 4 is stock bore and that would make it a 342 i beleive. I would just check the bore of the block and the piston sizes and make sure they are the same (dont know anything about a sportsman if its bored or not).

dont use the TFS stage 2 cam

that is a 302ci cam, strokers need more duration to open up the valves
sooner and give the cylinder more time to fill.

Also the HighVolume oil pump is not needed, if you do use it make sure you get a 7qrt oil pan
as the HV pumps can suck a 5qrt dry.

For the money you're going to invest in this stroker, the cam is going to make or break your combo. In your case, I think the only way you're going to be satisified is if you don't know what kind of power you're leaving behind. A custom cam (although over twice the price of a TFS grind) will be worth it's weight in gold for your combo.

Have you bought the rotating assembly yet? I give pretty good deals on complete CHP kits.

www.camshaftinnovations.com
tell him what you have, what you want out of it ( ie street or strip, low end torque or high end power ect ...)
and thats what you will get. Can even tell you what springs to use on your heads.

Remember...... cam, valve springs, pushrods, rockers and heads are all parts of one whole that all has to work together
to maximize performance.

I recently installed CompCams XFI 236HR-14 which was made for 347 stroker, but with EFI
I dont know how that would effect being run on a carb though.
Jegs has them for about $250

remember matching springs will be important on high performance cam too.
