with the filter removed if you can stick your hand through the hole from inside the engine compartment and not hit anything on the other side of the fender, then your silencer has already been removed.

the engine will only ingest the amount of air that the throttle body and idle air control lets into it, so it shouldn't matter at all whether or not there is a silencer or even an air filter in front of the throttle body. make sure you didn't dislodge any vacuum lines when you removed your silencer and make sure the mass air meter is properly plugged in too. you might try disconnecting the negative battery cable for a few minutes to let the computer reset itself also although this shouldn't be necessary. you really can't get too much air into any engine but you can get too lean if the fuel system can't keep up with the air volume and supply enough fuel to keep a proper air/fuel ratio going into it. also make sure the air filter is clean and change it if you can't see sunlight through it.

Not familiar with that set-up. On my '88, once I removed the silencer and installed a K&N filter in the air box, that's all I needed to be pulling cold air in from the fender area. If your filter is inside the engine compartment, then yes you want to get a kit that moves it outside into the fenderwell where it gets cooler air.

Hey Round, yeah i took off the silencer, and it works fine, guess it just needed to be reset like you said. Now, has anyone had any issues with the Densecharger system in florida? We get a lot of rain here and just wanted to know if it would be okay. it looks to me like it wouldnt get rain up in the fender since its blocked pretty good. so thinking about getting that system. any ideas welcome. thanks,
