Default headers/intake/maf question

I eventually want to put CAI and convert my 86 to MAF but I dont have the money to do the whole conversion at this time would it benefit me at all to add headers first and do the intake/MAF conversion later?

the exhaust would be a great start..headers alone are only worth like 5-9 hp with the stock exhaast

Wait to do headers until you can afford to do the entire exhaust. Keep saving for the MAF conversion and the CAI.

Do you have a 2.5" mid-pipe and a 2.5" catback?

does anyone know why I would have 4 catalytic converters on my 86 and is it necessary to pass emissions?

Well if your state requires emissions yes you need the cats to pass but they make high flow cats that have only two cats instead of four for better H/P..........

the real issue is should I replace just the cats or lower my 4 to 2 and will that reduction in catalytic converters allow me to pass emissions?

There's only two cats, there's also two resonators. Just get an aftermarket catted mid-pipe, don't hack on the stock pipe it's not worth it.
