Ok guys, I have a 1993 GT Hatch. It's got a Professional Products Polished Upper and Lower Intake Manifold, 70 MM Throttle body and EGR spacer, BBK headers, Keith Black Pistons, F303 Cam, BBK CAI, Underdrive pullys, American Thunder Dual Flows, and other good stuff to make it go GRRRRR.

Anyways, I recently replaced my heater core. Everything is good, however; I don't have any dash lights or headlights. The dash lights came on for maybe a second and now they just wont come on at all. The headlights wont come on but my parking lamps will. The bright lights work but I have to hold the lever back. I push the lever forward and it just aint workin. I've checked all of my grounds and they are good. I do have one plug by my fuse box thats white and has 5 pins. I don't remember disconnecting that baby and I have one more by my glove box that is black and red and it has two pins. It's not for my hatch release and there is no plugs for my heater control assembly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

did you take the instrument cluster. when mine did that the cluster was unplugged from the harness. also check your dimmer switch on the dash i have seen those go out on freinds cars before and they will do the same thing.

did you take out the instrument cluster. when mine did that the harness wasnt snapped in all the way. if thats not it its either the headlight switch or the dimmer switch on the dash, i have seen it happen many times with foxes

I checked it before I put it back in but the wires for the headlights and the foglights kept getting in the way so while I was pushing them away it could have came out. I don't know if the headlights worked or not while I was assembling the dash back together but I do know that the dash lights came on and when I pushed the dimmer switch to turn on the dome light, the dash lights just quit working. And on top of that, I have those two sensors. I'm thinking the white one may be for diagnostics but I'm not sure about it and I'm not sure about that small black connector by the glove box either.

it sounds like the dimmer switch, i am not sure what those other 2 go to i know under my dash there are about 8 things that dont plug into anything. but get a repair book it should have the wiring diagram to tell you were they go

Yeah I noticed that other people on here that have the same problem said it was their dimmer switch. The only difference was that they didn't have any tail lights but they had headlights. I dunno, I just got off the phone with Kragen Auto Parts and they said that the dimmer switch was $22 and they had a headlight/turn signal combination switch for $60. I'll probably just get those and once I pull the dash apart again, check the connections first and if I dont use them then I'll just return them. I just hate the way Ford made those dashes. Oh yeah, and I now see why people by-pass heater cores. They are one pain in the ^&*.

I just called Auto Zone and they said that specific part number was for a brake light. Hmmm this Auto Zone here really isn't all that great anyways. I thought it was fuses but I put my fuse tester to all of them and they're good. Like I said, I installed that heater core and I plugged everything back up (besides those two sensors I was talking about because I don't know what they belong to or remembering taking them off) and the headlights don't work but the brights do if I hold forward the lever. The parking lights work as well. In a nut shell, everything works but my headlights and dash lights. And today I was driving and my radio kept going on and off like something stupid. I'm about to throw the POS out the window.
