Taurus fan install
OK i have the taurus fan, I dont want to get a thermostat for turning it on i want it on a switch. High speed on one switch and low speed on another.
On the high speed they said it pulls like 40 amps, how would i go about putting a fuse inline and with a switch. Do i have to get a switch that is made to handle 40 amps? or will a regular toggle switch work. I read that install on the taurus fan but thats talking about making the fan cut on on its own. I just want two switches, one for high and one for low. none of that fancy stuff. :-)

RE: Taurus fan install
i got a 30 amp relay from radio shack and a 30 amp circuit breaker.
the relay will have ground, power in, power out and an on/off terminal.
run power to c/b then to power in on relay, then power out to fan.
run on/off up into car and find a switched power source, we used the radio fuse
tap a power lead into that fuse to get power then put it on a switch out to the relay.
it will now come on when the key is and the switch fliped.
dont know how the Tarus wire's up the high/low speed, but shouldnt be too hard.

RE: Taurus fan install
so what exactly is the purpose of the relay? Why couldnt i just put a power wire from the battery to the fan, then run a ground wire to a switch with nothing between? Or Where would i buy a fusable link at?? for say 60amps bc they said the fan uses 45 amps on the high speed.

RE: Taurus fan install
B/c when it's directly wired like that you get a big surge from the fan motor and eventually the switch will burn up. The relay supplies the power and protects the circuit.
