As far as I know, I thought all 5.0's came with plastic door handles. I know that my 88's were plastic and so are my 93's. I broke both of mine on my 88 though.... from pulling too hard [:@]

Thats odd, maybe ford just picked and choose what they wanted to use. Mine are some type of metal material. Are you the 1st owner of your car 88???
