My dad owns a 2001 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0 V8. I was told by one of the guys at ford dealership thats its a very rare car and if so how many of these were made. I think its a 5.0 mustang engine if I`m not mistaking. How modable are these things and do they respond to mods well. I was thinking about modifyin this car no joke!

You can get a 302 anywhere... Don't ruin a perfectly running truck to swap into your car. Jump into a junkyard and get it from there.

+1 on getting another 302 from something else. You can get one for cheap and do a cheap build while its out. What year car you puttin this into if your gona do it ?

I thought they stoped the 5.0 in explorers in 1999? though they went to the 4.6 in 2000, or did they switch in 2002????

'02, ours is a 4.0L v6, i believe the v8 was a 4.6L and those explorers aren't ho's either right????

+1 With everyone else on tearing out that motor. Its definetly not worth it. I seen full motors from manifold to pan sell for a couple hundred or you can find a block for $50 bucks.... check the forums; they are everywhere.

the only 5.0 motor from a explore that was decent was the 98-99 with the gt40p heads if im correct.
