Welcome to the forums. I'm sure you can get a shell for really cheap, i'd check auto trader in your area, or ebay if your not worried about the motor. Summit is a really good place for parts, but sometimes their prices are kndof high. The only reason i stick towards summit is because they always have stuff in stock and have just about everything you'll need, and its only bout a 45 minute drive from me.

Haha yeah u cant go wrong w/ that since your gonna yank the drivetrain. The intake/carb setup on that car was a total BS design

Theres a performance shop about 30 mins from me that price matches. They have a well stocked warehouse also. Definatly look into something like that, jegs and summit charge a fee of something like $10-15 each time you order from them(not sure about pick up orders tho)

Since you're looking for restoration parts, check out www.50resto.com. The shipping from them is slow and more expensive than summit but they have most of the resto parts you're going to want. You can take the fuel injection off of a 86+ and throw a carb on it if you want, you just have to change a couple of things.

a buddy of mine just bought 1992 5.0 convertable for $750. (note: it did need body work and new paint job.)

my step dad has the 1987 5.0 GT and told me that its probly the best mustang to do all the work on yourself.
