Default help a newbie out!

hey guys. been a reader for quite some time but never had a reason to register until now. i dontown a mustang.. yet . 2 miles down the road there is a guy selling a 92 gt, 90k miles, 5 speed. car looks to be in mint condition, however i only checked it out for a few mins. anyway, the guy walked out as i was checking it out, told me it had a few mods done, 3.73 gears, full exhaust, he said a few other things but nothing major. he said the car was painted about a year ago and he just put cobra or cobra R rims on it. (he siad they costed him like $2k, is that about right?) anyway, the car looks clean and mean, dark shiny green, cobra rims, sure caught my eye. hes lookin to get $8,500 or $9k for it. is this a good price or what? he also said its got everything but an automatic. (a 5 speed, just what i wanted ) has leather, sunroof, etc. anyway, if one of you guys could give me your feedback on the price, id appreciate it. think its too high or nicely priced??

thanks

If its a real clean car it could be worth it. How much you gonna drive it? If your going to drive it alot, its going to need a rebuild sooner or later, depending on if you are planning on more mods. Its all about what its worth to you. Take your time looking, dont jump on the first one you see. good hunting

I had'79 that when I sold it had 500k on it....bone stock, well, maybe a couple of water pumps, thermostats, belts, filters, wiper fluid bottle, and radiator had been changed cause they died somewhere along the way....but other than that, everything else was pretty much the same as when I bought it. --- Interior was immaculate (except for my seat which my big **** wore out....hahaha)

I had an 85 that I just sold in '95 with close to 200k on it when I bought my 90 (bought it in 1995) which now has 96k on it and still going strong....

so it depends on the care, maintenance and love (trust me it requires alot less than a girlfriend....hahahhaa)

If I was going to daily drive it, I would look for somthing with less miles. You could take that 8k, or even half that and order a brand new gt of your choice. All the options you want. Even with a 4k down payment the payments could be very affordable. Just somthing to look into before dumping all your hard earnd money into an old car w/ miles. You might be all about a 50 fox body though. I dont know where you live, but I live near Chicago and have seen daily driven fox body cars, they dont like salt at all. I dont think the body prep and paint was as good back then. Salt= rusted fox

well im still in high school and cant really afford a monthly payment... (reason for buyin an older car). im lucky enough to have my dad payin my insurance i really like how the old fox bodies look. just out of curiosity, how much do you guys think aused 5.0 swap would cost including labor and cost of engine? i have about $1500 worth of car audio that i wouldnt mind sellin to drop a nice low mileage engine in it when the time comes. got a 95 grand prix gtp that i bought about 6 months ago and the tranny is slippin so it has got to go. made the audio real nice since i didnt wanna waste money on performance stuff for it. i certainly wouldnt shed a tear about selling my car audio if i could drive around in a sweet lookin fox body with a little bitta muscle. also, just how fast is a 92 gt with 5.0 and full exhaust, tuned up, and 3.73's. he didnt get to specific with the mods but i think thats all it has. btw its a 5 speed.

Best is all going to be personal preference, so I am sure you will get many different opinions. If $ is an issue then your best bang for the buck is going to be the 87-93 5.0,but that is just my 2.
