Default popping noise!?!?

My car is making this really wierd popping noise and i can't figure out what it is. i've nocticed it at idle and under about 2000 RPM. it sounds like its coming from the exhaust i've tighted everything but the part connecting the headers to the h pipe cause i couldn't get underneath the car to get to those to see if they were still tight so i'll do that when i get home but does anyone know if it could be anything else, my car almost feels like its a bit more sluggish then normal too but i might just be over paraniod or something. it also kinda chokes every once in a while at higher rmps usually at freeway speeds, could they both be the same problem?

No clue w/out hearing it but it wouldnt be a bad idea to check and make sure u didnt melt a spark plug wire. It may be arching if so. It would be more of a tick rather than a popping noise tho

Does the pop get louder and faster when you rev the engine?

rotor is new plug wires i think are fairly new, no it goes away when i rev the engine, or its just to quiet to hear over the exhaust, i can only hear it under 2000 RPM. if i just stomp on the gas while its in netrual then its normal but at idle it just pops, i would get a sound clip of it but i don't have anything to record it with

slight popping at idle is usually a misfire (if it sounds like it's coming from teh exhaust tips) Check your plugs. YOu probably have a couple of fouled plugs or need to get new ones. Might be as simple as a regap.

Does your RPM needle bob at all when it's popping? That is a definite tell-tale sign of a misfire.

ok i still need help i got home and found out it was coming from the #8 cylinder, i cleaned the spark plug and nothing, re gapped it and nothing, bought a new one and still nothing. i'm going to change the wire tomorrow and see what that does, someone told me it might be the valve sticking. any thoughts?
