Supercharge a 306
 

Hey everyone Im new to the Mustang and just picked one up about 2 weeks ago....I want to get it supercharged. I was wondering whcih blower is the best and how much hp i would be putting down on pump gas and wat my 1/4 mile times would be. I have ran 12.8 consistently on motor. My mods are in my sig.

do you know what your commpression is. i would go with a vortech s-trim 8-10 psi. with your mods should put you close to 350-400 horse. mid to high 11's depending.

Powerdynes.....well um BLOW. If I were you I would get an ATI Procharger.

Or you could get a turbo.

i dont know from first hand but i have only heard good things about Vortech. i am thinking about getting one for my 5.0 after i do the mods that i want first.

dont go with a novi 1k, theyre pretty much junk. go with a novi 2k or a procharger.

maybe junk wasnt the right word. 500 hp max is extremely disappointing to me. especially considering a 2k will make DOUBLE the power.

There are TONS of people who take Novi 1000's to high 400rwhp. But whats the difference, you will split the block or pushing your luck with the block before the blower goes. Also, Novi 1000 ($1700); 8' Crank Pulley ($200); Power Pipe ($250) = 8-10psi... how could you complain? :D

$2,200 for a BRAND NEW supercharger setup...

No, a stock block is pretty much at its max around 500rwhp. There are people who take them to 600 and split them there are people who take them to 475-500 and split them. There are other things that factor into it too. But no, a stock motor will not even come close to supporting that kind of power. A aftermarket block is your only option.

did you just decide that or did somebody tell you:eek: novi 1000's are good sc especially for the price...there is absolutely no need for a 2000 on a stock block...unless you plan on building a better motor that could use it eventually. please don't spread hearsay bs

from the couple people ive met with them, they didnt like them very much. and 500 max hp is weak IMO. the people i talkd to didnt like them, and they actually used them, so it would be a fairly direct source.

Like I said before, theres nothing wrong with only handling 500hp... are you going to take a stock block past 500rwhp anyway? Most likely not....

Yeah i was planning on going with a vortech s-trim....the guy before me had one on there and it was going 10.4's in the 1/4 mile....After a while im going to run it up to 500 whp and have fun until it blows and then get a 347.....then i can have 600+whp? right?


oh btw i was planning on doing AFM Mr freeze....is that good or should i just get alcohol injection?

No, you will not be able to get 100rwhp more from a 347W. Its still a 302 block bored/stroked. Its still only "reliable" up to 450-500rwhp.

+1 ... I honestly dont get it though lol People know that they are going to split but do it anyway. I guess it would be kind of cool to say I split a block in half lol hahaha! Maybe one day when I have a few hundred and 50 hours to piss away... :D

Theres a few aftermarket blocks that you can go with... an R block, Dart, etc. Also, you can go with a sportman block but to be totally honest Im not exactally sure how much they are good for.

I heard that the R block was pretty good for 600-700whp....is it true?

Also how much hp do u think i have at the wheels if i ran a 12.709 at 105 1.688 60ft?

Is it possible for me to hit 425-450 at the wheels with 8-10 psi on a vortech?
