smoking the tires

RE: smoking the tires
To do a really smokey burnout, pour some bleach on your tires and just mash the gas. Once they break loose, pump the gas pedal to keep the motor from redlining.
Personally, I have to try NOT to spin the tires when Im taking off normal. Gotta love torque.

i read somewhere here that the only time you should roast the tires at the track is if you're running slicks, other then that, you just need to spin them a little to have a nice, clean catch patch

Automatic is easy. Just step on the brakes and the gas at the same time. Manual is a little more tricky. Put it in first and rev. Once you drop the clutch your left foot has to get to the brake quickly but on hard or it will stall. Motor Trend wrote a how to on this. Search on google, but thats pretty much it.

RE: smoking the tires
Well usually the tires fry best when cold, but my gear swap has killed my burnouts for now, when i had the 2.73's they would fry and smoke up so pretty, but now that I've got the 3.73's they will chirp and the rear axle does a small sidestep like and then it takes off like its out of a cannon, mostly stock internal motor, with a K&N filter, cold air kit, thorley tri-y headers, x pipe and dynomax turbo mufflers... but eventually i plan a mass air conversion and maybe a 331 stoker, with I'm dreamin but I'd love a twin turbo setup...
